Martin's the tallest, perhaps we can staple it onto him. That way we won't lose
anything.

just in case he's not up for that, i've got some bits of wood, about 2" x 1/2".

presumably a frame can be fixed to the banisters- will have to be strong enough not to fall if someone trips on the stairs and grabs the lift!

not sure what the consensus is on tubes- i was wondering if they would be necessary if magnets strong enough... although i suppose theres still the possibility of random objects being introduced

we talked about making pulleys out of discs of wood- it just occurred to me that the bargain shop on nicolson st sells pretty cheap, sturdy (and shiny!) metal plates- two of these sandwiching a disc of thick ply all bolted together could work... haven't got any ply though
